Alfalfa Hay/Seed

Freddi Abatti Companies grow and harvest one of the highest quality type of Alfalfa in the Imperial Valley, CA. Because Imperial Valley is in the low desert located in California, the harvest season extends from late February through late fall. This offers our customers with Alfalfa Hay through most of the year.

Of the commonly grown hay crops, Alfalfa has the richest nutrient value and is considered a “complete” animal feed. Alfalfa contains between 15% to 23% crude protein in addition to being an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. Besides dairy and beef cattle benefitting from our Alfalfa’s high protein content and digestible fiber, horses, goats, sheep and camels also can enjoy the benefits of our grown Alfalfa. We package our Alfalfa Hay and Alfalfa Straw in both Big 3X4 bales and small 3-tie bales.

In addition to Alfalfa forage, we grow and harvest Alfalfa Seed by using Canadian Leafcutter Bees, which we buy in the bee larvae stage, incubate and deliver to our fields for maximum pollination. Leafcutter Bees are a genial, efficient, tireless Pollinator which saved the declining Alfalfa Seed industry in the first half of the 20th Century.
